Square Enix has announced, literally unbeknownst to everyone, the arrival of a remastered version of SaGa Frontier, one of its classic JRPGs from the golden age of video games.

SaGa Frontier was released on PSX in Japan in 1997 and in America in 1998 when the company was still called Squaresoft, and if you haven’t heard of it before, there’s a very simple reason: the game was never published in Europe.

This time, the title will make its appearance on all markets starting next summer and, thanks to the remastering, will be able to boast 2D graphics in high definition.

Square-Enix, however, didn’t stop at just the graphics: SaGa Frontier Remastered will even include new content, including those that were cut during the development of the original title. This includes new events, new cutscenes, and even a new protagonist, called Fuse.

Of course, the heart of the game has remained unchanged: there will be eight playable characters, each with their own story and mission, numerous fights to be won through battles and skills and secrets to be discovered almost everywhere, in pure JRPG style.

Below, you can admire the announcement trailer that illustrates the news of the remastered:

SaGa Frontier Remastered will be released on Steam, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android starting next summer 2021.
