As a strategy to raise money to fight the covid-19, Riot Games announced a marathon of global live broadcasts of League of Legends to raise funds and donate them to charitable causes. The name that Riot gave to this initiative is Mid-Season Streamathon and in a press release, inviting players, fans and special guests to meet virtually to “to support the efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 from all over the world.”
The Mid-Season Streamathon will be held from may 29 until may 31. In addition, the event will count with the support of the sponsors of some teams of esports League of Legends as Mastercard, Red Bull and Secretlab.
From Riot require that the relay will have over 48 hours of content that is scheduled and uninterrupted around the world, including a battle continent between the european teams, as well as a battle of influencers and a confrontation of the Mid-Season Cup between the best teams of the LPL (League of professional Chinese League of Legends) and LCK (League of Professional League of Legends in Korea).
