The second season of The Witcher to Netflix, starring Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt of Rivia, is currently in production and, with the approach of the premiere, is increasing news and information about new products that will be introduced in the new episodes.
The latest report comes from the ever-active Redanian Intelligence fans, who have discovered a new entry that will be introduced in Season 2: Queen Meve. In CD Projekt’s video game trilogy, the queen was only mentioned and her only appearance was in Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.
According to the information in the possession of the site, the queen will be played by the Scottish actress Rebecca Hanssen and this immediately sparked the curiosity of fans. The reason? Rebecca is 26, while Meve, in the original The Witcher novels, is a much older woman with two grown children.
This means that, in theory, Queen Meve from the Netflix series will be a younger version of the original character. We do not know if this will be the only change made by Netflix or if the stories in which it will be the protagonist will also undergo changes, to meet the new age.
However, this casting choice has its pros: if the second season of The Witcher proves to be a success, it is possible that Meve may also return in the next series and a young actress will allow an organic growth of the character.
What do you think? Do you agree with the inclusion of a young queen in The Witcher series?
