League of Legends Riot Games reveals the new planning of the ap competitive LoL

The health crisis caused by the Coronavirus est, affecting all sectors. Esports are no exception, as the events face-to-face with stadiums full of people are a fundamental part of these. From Riot Games, as I could not be otherwise, have been forced to make several changes in the events related to your game star, League of Legends, among them the repayment of the MSI, changes in the World and a new competition never before seen.
The repayment of the Mid-Season Invitational was an open secret. As ms and ms passes to adopt measures to curb the pandemic, ms was evident that an event of such magnitude it was impossible to celebrate. Finally, John Needham, global director of esports at Riot Games, confirmed openly your repayment.
Initially, the plans were to simply delay the event to July, with the hope that the situation will be better by then. However, after assessing the situation carefully, we decided to provide for termination.
As it explained:
“The global team of esports League of Legends has worked hard the last few months (…). One of the results of this work was the decision to delay the MSI from may to July with the hope that the crisis was in recesin.
It is quite unlikely that the impact/la propagacin of the COVID-19 or policies of restriction of travel and of meeting space sphere implemented in response to the crisis have decreased enough for the dates that are currently planned the MSI (3-19 July)”
And therefore, the MSI was cancelled definitely:
“We have taken the difficult decision not to celebrate the MSI in 2020. We believe that it was necessary to take this decision to ensure the good of the players, teams, employees, partners, media and fans.”
The only positive part of your repayment is that the regional leagues, which fortunately are still operative, have been able to maintain their original programming without the need to adapt to the interruption posed by the MSI.
Due to the repayment of the MSI, the team in charge of organizing the event and has put hands to the work with the work of organisation of the World of 2020. This year promises to be one of the most spectacular, because let us remember that it is in this world where is celebrated the dcimo anniversary of League of Legends. As what ensures Needham in the same press release, so that we can be sure to be a memorable event.
“We are committed to organize the biggest show to date to celebrate the 10. anniversary of our esport in China. Although we cannot share much about our plans, we are looking forward to honor all that we love League of Legends with a Global outstanding in 2020.”
In a recent video posted by Riot, we were able to see how the preparation for the Worlds, 2019, led the team in charge of preparing a grandsima amount of time, dedicacin and effort. In this 2020, with more time to plan the show, it is possible that we may witness an event jams before seen in the history of esports.

Even without MSI, Riot does not plan to leave their fans without any type of special event. That is why we have announced the Mid-Season Cup. In addition, to ensure the equality of conditions between the two regions, Riot Games set a limit of ping in all games at 30-50 ms. This will be possible thanks to the use of external tools and the proximity of both regions.
