The developers of CD Projekt will bring Cyberpunk 2077 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in a very few days, with a next-gen version expected in the course of 2021. Who will start playing on current platforms and then move on to the most recent consoles, taking advantage of the full backward compatibility of both hardware, how will he continue his adventure?
In order to dispel any doubts, the Polish team explained in detail the various methods for transferring saves from current to next-gen, both for Xbox and PlayStation.
On Xbox, the process is very simple, thanks largely to Smart Delivery. Cyberpunk 2077 players on Xbox One will just have to upload their save to the cloud and, later, retrieve that save on Xbox Series X or S. Or, if both consoles are turned on, activate the transfer via System Network.
On PlayStation there are different options, three to be exact. Cyberpunk 2077 owners on PS4 can transfer their savings to the PlayStation Plus cloud and retrieve it from PS5, or transfer it by connecting PS4 and PS5 with a LAN cable or wirelessly. In addition, it is possible to use external memory, such as a hard disk, to copy the save and physically bring it to the PlayStation 5.
At the moment we know that this save transfer operation will work exclusively with Cyberpunk 2077 played in backward compatibility on next-gen. We do not know if the various current-gen saves will be compatible with the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions that will be made ad hoc in 2021. We obviously assume so, but we will await further confirmations.
On which platform will you play Cyberpunk 2077, when will 10 December arrive? Do you already have a next-gen console, or will you upgrade in the future?
